American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. The ABPN approved the experimental Pediatrics-Psychiatry-Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Joint Training Program (PPlTC) becoming a permanent training track without a time limit. The ABPN and the American Board of Pediatrics are finalizing guidelines for training. The PPlTC has .been housed at the American Board of Pediatrics, but it has been approved that it will be housed by the ABPN as of July, 1993. Committee on Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry At its business meeting in January 1993, the Committee on Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (the Committee) elected the following officers, who will begin their terms on January 1, 1994: Dr. Thomas Haizlip, Chair; Dr. Mark Blotcky, Vice-Chair; Dr. Elizabeth Weller, Secretary-Treasurer. Drs. Cynthia Pfeffer (White Plains, NY) and Richard Sarles (Baltimore, MD) were elected to 6-year terms effective January 1, 1994, to succeed Drs. Lois Flaherty and Theodore Shapiro who complete their 6-year terms on the Committee on December 31, 1993. Members of the Committee are elected to serve one 6-year term each and are not eligible for reelection. The members of the 1993 Committee are Dr. Walter R. Anyan, Jr. (representative from the American Board of Pediatrics, term expires December 31,1994); Dr. Mark J. Blotcky (term expires December 31, 1997); Dr. Lois T. Flaherty (term expires December 31, 1993); Dr. Thomas M. Haizlip (term expires December 31, 1995); Dr. Kenneth S. Robson (term expires December 31, 1994); Dr. Theodore Shapiro (term expires December 31, 1993); and Dr. Elizabeth Weller (term expires December 31, 1988). Nominations for Committee members are sought through the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Examination At its September 11-13, 1992 examination in Chicago, IL, the Committee examined 435 candidates; 269 (62%)

passed, 68 (16%) conditioned, and 98 (22%) failed or failed must reapply. Additional statistics are given in Table 1. There will be two Child and Adolescent Psychiatry examinations in 1993/1994; September 10-12, 1993 in Raleigh/ Durham, NC and April 29-May 1, 1994 in Denver, CO. The current fees for examination are: application fee = $325, oral examination fee = $700, oral reexamination fee (condition) = $475, oral reexamination fee (failure) = $700, written examination fee = $300. There will be a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry examination given on September 9-11, 1994, in Detroit, ML All completed applications for this examination must be received in the Board office no later than May 1, 1994. Applicants are required to submit copies of current license registrations showing expiration date, in addition to documentation of all training, photographs, and fees with their applications. Training documents must include the exact dates of training. All licensing and training requirements must be met before application for examination. TABLE
