FLSmidth wins stacking project in Australia

LSmidth has signed a US$50 million contract with BIS Industries Ltd to supply material handling equipment to an iron ore mine owned by Gindalbie Metals Ltd which is located 200 km east of Geraldton, Western Australia. The contract includes an iron ore tailings stacking system including a RAHCO mobile stacking system with a capacity of 2850 tonnes per hour. The FLSmidth technology enables dewatered tailings material to be conveyed and stacked rather than pumped. This process allows the client to use a smaller footprint, decrease environmental exposure, re-use much of their process water and reduce operating costs.
Veolia brine concentrator selected for Australian mine water

nergy Resources Australia will use Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies brine concentrator technology to treat and reduce process water inventory from its Ranger uranium mine in Australia’s Northern Territory. The brine concentrator uses thermal energy to evaporate water, which produces clean distillate that will meet strict water quality requirements for release into Energy Resources Australia’s constructed wetlands system. 4

The five-year, £75 million contract includes project support, core operations and maintenance and shutdown support for a mixture of manned and unmanned offshore assets, as well as onshore gas terminals in the Morecambe Bay area.

este Oil is to construct a pilot plant to produce waste-based microbial oil at its Porvoo refinery in Finland. It will be the first pilot plant in Europe designed to produce microbial oil for use in manufacturing renewable fuel from wastebased raw materials. The plant will be used to develop microbial oil production processes and test various raw materials for producing microbial oil, such as straw and other agricultural residues, as well as industrial waste and residues. The E8 million facility is due to be completed in the second half of 2012.

zbekistan GTL LLC has selected Technip for the extension of the existing reimbursable services contract, for the front-end engineering design of a 1.4 million metric tons per year gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant, located 40 km south of Qarshi in Uzbekistan. Technip has already completed the detailed feasibility study for the project. The front-end engineering activities will be executed by Technip’s operating centre in Rome, Italy, with the support of the group’s centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

acobs Engineering Group Inc has won a framework contract from Gassnova SF for its CO2 Capture Mongstad (CCM) project at the Mongstad Refinery site in Norway. Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs will provide engineering and technical assistance services to support the installation of a large-scale carbon dioxide (CO2) capture plant for a combined heat and power (CHP) plant at the refinery. The CHP plant is integrated with the refinery and includes fuel gas/electricity exchange with the Troll gas field in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The CCM project, which is in an early development stage, is funded by the Norwegian State and is being undertaken by a joint venture between Gassnova SF and Statoil ASA.
