IONICS INVESTS IN ACAPULCO Ionics Incorporated has dedicated a facility in Acapulco, Mexico to manufacture sodium hypochlorite for water disinfection. The A c a p u l c o facility, which will be owned and operated by Ionics, will use Ionics' proprietary Cloromat® system to supply sodium hypochlorite for 10 years to Ac a p u l c o , through its distributor Kilo Sodio SA de CV. Delivery of the sodium hypochlorite, to be used in both drinking water and wastewater disinfection, will begin early next year. Goldstein said it also represented a vote of confidence in Ionics' Cloromat technology and the company's ability to provide sodium hypochlorite in both an economical and environmentally safe manner.

The company has donated 10 chlorinators to disinfect river water and is also providing emergency generators to power the equipment.
