Nominations for the National Turkey Federation Research Award Nominations for the National Turkey Federation Research Award for 1981 must be in the hands of the Chairperson (L. M. Potter, Department of Poultry Science, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA 24061) before March 1, 1984. The National Turkey Federation Research Award of one thousand dollars and a plaque, instituted by the National Turkey Federation, is given in even-numbered years, for the outstanding record in turkey research in the United States during the past five years. The work must be original. In the fields of research specifically with turkeys, the range is wide, since economics, food technology, genetics, merchandising, pathology, physiology, nutrition, and other related areas are pertinent to the award.

The award will be announced and a plaque presented to the recipient at the annual meeting of the Poultry Science Association, Inc. A check for one thousand dollars will be presented at the following meeting of the National Turkey Federation in January. The recipient will receive an expense-paid trip to the National Turkey Federation meeting, at which he or she will present a report on some phase of his or her research. Any researcher, or administrator, may nominate a qualified candidate for the award, and the nomination should include five copies of the following: nomination letter, biography, pertinent bibliography, reprints of appropriate publications during the past five years prior to June, 1984 and other appropriate and supporting data.

Nominations for the Poultry and Egg Institute of America Award Nominations for the Poultry and Egg Institute of America Award for 1985 must be in the hands of the Chairperson of the Poultry and Egg Institute of America Award Committee (James Heath, Department of Poultry Science, University of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742) by March 1, 1985. The Poultry and Egg Institute of America Award of one thousand dollars and an engraved plaque, provided by the organization for which it is named, is made in odd-numbered years to stimulate and reward researchers in the fields of poultry and egg technology, such research to contribute toward the increased consumption of poultry products. Nominations, in five copies, may be made by any member of the association. Any individual residing in Canada or the United States, who has not attained forty years of age (except as noted below) by the end of the calendar year preceding the year in which the award is made (other than previous recipients or a recipient of

the Institute of Food Technologists' Award, provided by the same donor), who has made outstanding contributions in the field of poultry and/or egg products technology, and whose contributions have been published in recognized journals or state or federal publications is eligible. Membership in the Poultry Science Association, Inc., is not a prerequisite. Research published in the four preceding calendar years will be considered. Since this is a biennial award, an individual not having attained forty-one years of age by the end of the calendar year preceding the year in which the award is made will also be considered eligible; in this case the research published in the three calendar years preceding his attaining forty years of age will be considered. The work must be original; review articles will not be considered. Nominations should be in letter form, giving a biographical sketch of the nominee and listing the special contributions that would qualify him for the award.
