1. Original Submission 1.1. Recommendation Reject - invite resubmission 1.2. Comments to the author Many questions must be done to the Authors. The study is not well structured. The Authors talk about a series of loop ileostomy as temporary defunctioning stoma for mid/low open or laparoscopic anterior resections, but in the Material and Methods there is no distinction between an open group and a

laparoscopic group. A comparison between these two groups has to be done since there could be significant differences in the outcome. A statistical analysis is therefore lacking. Was it really useful to give patients the bowel preparation? A bowel preparation increase meteorism, which make more difficult and longer the surgical procedure, and can alter the outcome. The review of the Literature is very skimpy, and does not allow a good analysis. Minor language revision is required. The paper has a lack of novelty. After proper corrections, it could contribute to add statistical results to the Literature. Anonymous reviewer
