The aim of this edition is to present ana tomic facts and concepts that are neces sary to appreciate the structural organiza tion of the human body, and to provide a foundation on which to build more de tailed and specialized knowledge. The study of anatomy should rely on visu alization of the parts and regions of the body in three dimensions based on an understanding of how these relationships came about and why they exist. Embryologic and clinical examples in the book are also meant to aid in acquiring this understanding. The general ar rangement of the book is the same as in earlier editions: Parti— introduction; Part II— the body systems; and Parts III to IX— the body regions. Many new figures (113) are included in this edition and color has been added to almost 200 of the figures already used in the third edition.
