Vacuum pump costs significantly reduced by new design Nash Engineering’s brand-new Delta Series vacuum pumps are compact and cost-effective alternatives to traditional pumps. Featuring a new design with top-suction, top-discharge nozzles, the Delta pumps will be offered for up to 44 % less than the line they replace. Delta Series pumps are claimed to be ideal for the chemical industry as well as industrial use, including manufacturing and food applications. They provide excellent general industrial vacuum or process vacuum and will appeal to value conscious OEMs and end-users, alike. The Delta Series consists of two designs. The EC design has a single-stage, variport arrangement and is available in eight sizes providing capacities to 275 CFM. The EC design has a versatile, low cost, close-coupled configumtion and is the ideal vacuum pump for OEMS. The ET design is a two-stage arrangement and is available in 11 sizes providing capacities to 475 CFM.The ET design is used primarily for high-vacuum applications. The Delta series is available in cast iron/bronze rotor and all stainless steel constructions,

most sizes of the Delta Series are available for immediate delivery. Contact: The Nash Engineering Company, 9 Trefoil Drive, TrumbullJ CT 0661 l-1330, USA. www.nashena.com

Plastic head for precision metering pump Bran + Luebbe has extended its ProZet metering range pump with the addition of a plastic pumphead version. The new ProZet DP3000 increases the number of applications for which the ProZet pump can be specified and opens up further opportunities for the pump to be used where resistance to aggressive liquids is paramount. This pump range provides a highly economic solution to those applications in the lower pressure operating range where metering accuracy is paramount. The ProZet pump offers a precise delivery of the metered liquid and without any possibility of contamination. This is achieved through the mechanical coupling of the double diaphragms, which prevents pump fluids from contacting the metered liquid. The special qualities of the material used in the construction of the double diaphragms

allows for high compression in the diaphragm sealing area, this being essential in the prevention of leaks. Contact: Bran + Luebbe Limited, Scaldwell Road, Brixworth, Northants NN6 9UD, UK. Tel: +44 1604 880751.

Electronic control for contactor motor starters An electronic coil interface, developed by ABB for its new “AF” motor control contactors, reduces power consumption by around 50 %, increases reliability and lifetime, cuts RF interference, and results in less noise when compared with conventional AC contactors. The coil interface sup plies just the current needed to close the contacts, and then reduces the current to keep them closed, even if the control circuit voltage or power supply quality should vary. The contactors will be particularly useful in installations such as offshore platforms, ships or where there is a standby generator system, where the power supply network can experience momentary interruption or variation in voltage. Previously installations like these have had to use expensive rectifiers or DC contactors. ABB Control’s “AF” contactors are currently
