Preface

28th International Pittsburgh Coal Conference (IPCC) Section

The collected papers presented in this section were based on presentations made at the Coal Science sessions of the 28th Annual International Pittsburgh Coal Conference, held on 12–15 September 2011 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The conference brings together experts in a broad range of coal science and engineering topics. In addition to the volunteered oral and poster presentations, the conference features three sessions of keynote speakers addressing cutting edge topics influencing coal production and utilization.
