Universitat
Stuttgart,
The considerable success of the two previous FENOMECH Conferences in 1978 and 1981 encourages us-scientists and engineers from the USA and Europe, as well as Japan-to announce a Third
International
Conference
on Finite
Elements
in Nonlinear
Mechanics.
The meeting will again take place at the ISD, University of Stuttgart, commencing September 10-13, 1984. It is intended to serve as a ‘get-together’ of noted authorities in the held of nonlinear and computational mechanics. On this occasion recent developments and current trends are to be presented in the form of 24 invited lectures-twelve from Europe and twelve from the United States and Japan. In addition, contributed papers of twenty minutes’ duration, covering various topics of computational nonlinear mechanics, are scheduled. Interested readers are asked to submit contributed papers on computational nonlinear mechanics which may include unusual topics like plasma-, biomechanics and robotics. Abstracts of 1-2 pages are to be submitted on and before March 31, 1984. Acceptance of contributed papers will be based on a reviewing process of the Organising Committee who will notify prospective authors by April 30, 1984. The conference language is English. The invited lectures will be published again in the form of Conference Proceedings together with selected contributed papers submitted prior to the conference. The conference programme includes to date keynote addresses by I. Babuska (U.S.A.) T. Belytschko (U.S.A.) J. Donea (Italy) R. Ewing (U.S.A.) B. Fredriksson and J. Backlund R. Gruber (Switzerland) H.
