AND APPARATUS MRI
4939464 FOR
Akir Maeda, Koich Sano, Tetsuo Yokoyama, Hideaki Koizumi, Machida, Japan assigned to Hitachi Ltd In order to narrow the dynamic range of an NMR signal and to provide MRI of lowcost and high image quality without inducing the distortions of an image other than distortion of phase which can be corrected or the degradations of the measurement accuracies of various parameters, a coil for generating an inhomogeneous magnetic field which varies slowly within region to-be-imaged is added to a coil for generating a static magnetic field of high homogeneity, and current to flow through the former coil is changed so as to control the inhomogeneous magnetic field.
4939463 IMAGE RECONSTRUCTION METHOD IN NMR IMAGING Kensuke Sekihara, Shigeru Matsui, Hideki Kohno, Musashimurayama, Japan assigned to Hitachi Ltd A method wherein the requirement for the amplitude of the oscillating gradient magnetic field is relaxed by reconstructing an image while using simultaneously echoes Sp(kx, y) produced in the case where the positive oscillating gradient magnetic field is applied to the object to be tested and echoes SN(kx, y) produced in the case where the negative is applied thereto, i.e. by using data points on segments of a trajectory of data points ascending from left to right in the spatial frequency domain and those on segments of a trajectory of data points ascending from right to left. That is, the image M(x, y) is obtained by Fourier-transforming at first the echoes Sp(kx, ky) and SN(kx, ky) with respect to ky, multiplying complex numbers al and a2 to gp (kx, y) and gN(kx, y) obtained by this transformation; adding the results thus obtained, i.e. forming g(kx, y) = a 1gp(kx, y) + a2gN(kx, y); and finally Fourier-transforming this g(kx, y) with respect to kx.
NMR-PET SCANNER APPARATUS Bruce E Hammer assigned General Corporation
to Intermagnetics
NMR-PET scanner apparatus is provided wherein a PET detector is disposed within a magnetic imaging structure of an NMR device. The output of the PET detector is conveyed through light pipes to photodetectors which are shielded and disposed without the magnetic imaging structure of the NMR device to avoid interaction between the photodetectors and the magnetic field generated by the magnetic imaging structure of the NMR device.
4939465 PROBE HEAD FOR NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE (NMR) MEASUREMENTS, IN PARTICULAR FOR USE IN NMR TOMOGRAPHY Reinhard Biehl, Gunther R Laukien, Karlsruhe, Federal Republic Of Germany assigned to Bruker Medizintechnik GmbH A probe head is provided for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements, in particular for use in NMR tomography.
4940055 HIGH-RESOLUTION SPECTRAL SIGNATURE OF HUMAN ARTERIAL PLAQUE Michael Brown assigned to University ginia Alumni Patents Foundation
of Vir-
Noninvasive method of identifying and quantifying constituents of arterial plaque, comprising subjecting arterial walls to proton NMR spectroscopy or magnetic resonance imaging and looking for sharp spectral lines indicative of the accumulation of lipids within the walls of human arterial blood vessels, and detecting early changes to arterial walls due to atherogenesis. Also this method can be used to obtain informachemical composition of regarding tion atheroma in situ comprising subjecting an aortic wall to NMR spectroscopy or magnetic resonance imaging and observing spectral peaks
