THE MANAGEMENT OF ABDOMINAL OPERATIONS. By R. H. Maingot, F.R.C.S. EngIand. N. Y., WilIiam Wood & Co., 1932. IIIustrated in sumptuous fashion with over 398 haIftones, some of which are coIored, the modern German technique is we11 presented in this voIume, which wiI1 be found of great vaIue to the gynecoIogist .

1933. This is a concise monograph on surgery of the spina column and represents the 54th voIume of the Neue Deutsche Chirurgie pubIished by H. Ktittner. The book is rich in exceIIent reproductions of x-ray fiIms which cIearIy iIIustrate the subject matter. The materia1 is divided into eight chapters which dea1 with injuries of the spina coIumn, inflammatory processes, tumors, congenital anomaIies of the osteopathies, spinal coIumn and diseases of the IumbosacraI region, spina bifida injuries, and diseases of +a3

This voIume, giving the Proceedings of the Section of Anaesthetics of the RoyaI Society of Medicine, presents in a few pages, papers by the Ieading men of EngIand. The Discussion on Anaesthetics for Diathermy and Endoscopy is very satisfactory. This is a subject that has been more or Iess negIected in the Iiterature. A
