r Robert B Kalina, Publisher of The Canadian Journal of Cardiology (left), and Dr Stanley Nattel, Editor-in-Chief of The Canadian Journal of Cardiology (right), present Dr Eldon R Smith with the 2010 Dr Robert E Beamish Award. This Award, sponsored by Pulsus Group, is given in honour of Dr Robert E Beamish, Founding Editor-in-Chief of The Canadian Journal of

Cardiology. It is awarded to the first author of an original research article published in the Journal, deemed to have the greatest impact on cardiovascular medicine. Dr Smith, however, was given this Award in recognition of his significant contribution to the Journal during his 13-year tenure as Editor-in-Chief. The prize consists of a Canadian piece of art and $1,000.

r Robert B Kalina, Publisher of The Canadian Journal of Cardiology, was presented with a gift from the Canadian Cardiovascular Society by Dr Charles Kerr, Past-President. This gift was given in recognition of the establishment and development of The  Canadian Journal of Cardiology into a world-class publication over 26 years – working effectively with the Canadian Cardiovascular Society since it was adopted as its official publication in 1995. The Journal was recently purchased by the Canadian Cardiovascular Society.
