B&P expands extruder range US machinery manufacturer B&P has introduced a complete line of CT twin screw extruders. The company says that the modular screw and barrel design extruder series is aimed at compounders, masterbatch manufacturers and engineered thermoplastics manufacturers. The range now includes a 25mm diameter laboratory model used for development and scale up, the 40mm and 58mm mid range models and the 70, 92 and 133mm production models. All are available in standard speed (600 rpm) and high speed (1200 rpm) versions. All gearboxes are designed to provide high torque output with the standard and high speed option. The company has also unveiled additions to its range of Continuous Kneaders. For many years B&P has manufactured large sized machines

B&P adds that the CK and CKS Series of Continuous Kneaders are heavy duty, high performance compounding machines based on a single rotating and reciprocating screw that interacts with stationary pins located on the barrel wall. Applications include engineering plastics, temperature and shear sensitive materials and thermoset compounds. Outputs range from 5-10,000 kg/h. According to the company, two levels of productivity are offered. The CK Series is claimed to have 25-50% higher free volume than other systems and screw speeds up to 500 rpm. The CKS Series offers ~ae same volume increase and has screw speeds up to 1000 rpm for high performance applications. The Continuous Kneaders are based on a modular process section and are offered in lengths of 10, 13, 16 and 19 L/D. The kneader barrels are fully lined with replaceable liners and the screw is of a segmented design. A variety of wear and corrosion resistant materials are available. The kneader barrel modules available include top and side feed barrels, vent barrels and dosed barrels. These allow for down stream feeding, liquid injection and vacuum venting. Three types of discharge devices are offered for pelletizing applications: directly flanged ctosshead extruders; directly flanged gear pump; and a gravity fed discharge extruder.
