Caprari obtains BS OHSAS 18001 ‘Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series’ certification. In addition to the already acquired and consolidated certifications for the Quality Management System (ISO 9001) - of the Italian headquarters and the export subsidiaries - and the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), Caprari took a further step forward in its endeavour to achieve continuous improvement when, last 12 October 2012, it obtained BS OHSAS 18001 ‘Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series’ certification from DNV Business Assurance, one of the world’s major independent certification authorities. For Caprari, to have obtained this certification paves the way to a new and tangible opportunity from both the corporate and
social viewpoints since, besides acknowledging the efficacy of the occupational quality and productivity improvement and prevention system implemented to date, it also underscores the social dimension of its workers’ health. Moreover, BS OHSAS certification affirms the juridical importance of the quality of relationships, in accordance with the health and safety laws and regulations in force.
April 2013
The type series of the new generation of KSB’s Etanorm standardised water pump comprises 43 pump sizes, which can be driven by either 2-pole or 4-pole motors. The selection chart has been extended by additional pump sizes, so that sizes can be selected even closer to the best efficiency point. In work with CFD (computational fluid dynamics) for flow simulation KSB’s development engineers have optimised the hydraulic contours. The results were verified in comprehensive tests.
547/2012/EC for water pumps, which will enter into force in 2015. The engineers placed a particular focus on suction behaviour and a low NPSH value, designed to minimise the risk of cavitation and obtain a smooth and stable pump operation even in difficult operating conditions. KSB reports that confined casing gaskets ensure reliable sealing between pump casing and casing cover even in highly varying operating conditions. The material range comprises cast iron, bronze and nodular cast iron as well as stainless steel. www.ksb.com
Thanks to the hydraulic system the pump sets already meet the EU requirements of Commission Regulation
The quality of the product, the respect and preservation of the environment, the care taken in the workplace to protect the workers’ health and safety continue to encourage Caprari to strive towards goals where the Customer is safeguarded by a growing relationship of mutual trust. www.caprari.com

Barrel emptying system scoops prize at AgroExpo At the specialist international agricultural trade fair AgroExpo 2013 in Spain, NETZSCH Pumps & Systems was awarded the ‘Primer concurso de innovación’ innovation prize. This is now the third time that Netzsch has won an innovation prize for its products in other European countries. This time it was the economy version of the Netzsch NBE 200 barrel emptying system for 200 l barrels. Netzsch barrel emptying systems are supplied as standard for 5 l, 20

l and 200 l barrels. However, there are also other sizes up to 1,000 l available on request. They can be operated on their own or as part of a dosing system with control unit, buffer and various application units, from valves to two-part mixing heads and including dispensers. To that effect, the barrel emptying systems have been further developed, so as to provide more capacity with fewer components and more advantageous manufacturing costs.
Other prizes are the ‘Targa Beltrami’ innovation prize which was awarded to the newly developed Tornado T2 rotary lobe pump in Italy in March 2012 at the Biogas Trade Fair in Cremona. Half a year later in the Netherlands, it was the B.Max biogas mixing pump at the ‘Industrial Processing’ Trade Fair, the specialist international trade fair for industrial processing in Utrecht. www.netzsch.com
