Coconut shell as filler for plastics Coconut shell powder, made from mature coconut shells, is being used extensively in synthetic resin glues as a filler and extender in the manufacture of phenolic moulding powders. It yields specialized surface finishes in plastic products, mastic adhesives and other products. In India, the powdering of coconut shells is usually done by adopting a combination of hammer mill and pulveriser. The process involves defibering of shells, crushing the ‘shell into small pieces of about 2cms square in a hammer mill, grinding these into powder and sieving the particles into various sizes from 80-200 mesh. There are about 15 shell powdering units in India, manufacturing about 1,800 tonnes a year. Plastics Southern Africa, 1995, (June), 14

The Bernhard Rustige Group introduces itself K95 was the ideal time for the Bernhard Rustige Group to introduce itself to the global plastics industry. The group is made up of six companies which are considered as separate service companies with integrated production units. At a time when most German manufacturers are feeling the effects of recession and reductions in public spending, the Bernhard Rustige Group is continuing its course of expansion which has resulted in average growth rates of 20% over the last few years. At present, the group comprises Constab Polymer Chemie GmbH & Co, Constab Engineering Plastics GmbH, Polymer Institute sro, Silon, Silix, and Constab Polymers (India) PVT Ltd. Constab Polymer Chemie GmbH & Co is considered to be the nucleus of the Holding Group with its base at Rtithen, in Germany. It produces additive and colour masterbatches for a wide range of applications including agriculture, horticulture and packaging. Constab Polymers (India) produces and sells masterbatches in the Far East in order to achieve a higher presence on the market. Constab Engineering Plastics GmbH at specializes in crosslinkable R&hen, polyethylene for cable and pipe applications, thermoplastic elastomers, halogen-free tailor-made compounds, polyolefin compounds and colour masterbatches.
