it is possible to say of a It is not very often that "I don't know how I managed without it book, Here, with absolute truth, is such a book. previously". too, have been Not only I, but many of my colleagues picking it up and commenting on particular features. the book is sub-divided into 23 chapters Basically dealing with most aspects of cell culture from starting a culture to designing and equipping a laboratory, and then describing the whole range of available techniques. Each part is strengthened by the ample use of very clear diagrams and the text is kept relatively simple. Besides explanation of cell culture techniques, associated methodology such as cell counting, viability, preservation, and contamination are all carefully described. With the rapidly increasing interest in flow cytometry, beginners in the area will welcome the section on physical methods of cell separation. Another important section is that of differentiation, whether dealing with markers, or indication thereof. The author, throughout, makes carefully considered comments on the difference of response between cells in culture and the tissue from which they were derived. This is particularly important for tumour cell studies. Finally, the indexing is clear and the appendix for reagents and trade suppliers is useful. The v--Y reference list is up-to-date and the glossary clearly defined. All-in-all, a book that all tissue culture laboratories should have and consult. GRTB.
