Grundfos adds innovation ClydeUnion wins nuclear office in Silicon Valley feedwater order Grundfos has opened an innovation office in California’s Silicon Valley to support the company’s new business, research and technology activities. Henrik Skov Laursen, formerly the head of the Grundfos Water Technology Center in Fresno, California, will take charge of the new Silicon Valley base. “Silicon Valley is more than a hub for IT – it is the key place for cleantech,” explained Laursen. “As Grundfos works to pioneer new technologies and remain a trend-
setter in water technologies, we must locate ourselves in an environment which thrives on creating the next big thing. ClydeUnion Pumps is to supply a CUP-TWL auxiliary feedwater pump for the Krško nuclear power plant in Slovenia. The CUP-TWL replaces a current conventional pump and separate turbine. Mathieu Roussel, ClydeUnion area sales manager, said: “The award of the TWL for the Krško project is a significant achievement for our company and testament to the unique features of the product which makes it an excellent solution of choice for safety related
applications in a nuclear power plant. The award is as a result of a collective effort involving sales, tendering, engineering, procurement, legal and facility support from USA, Annecy and Glasgow.” The project was awarded by the plant operator Nuklearna Elektrarna Krško. The pump will be manufactured at the ClydeUnion facility in Glasgow with planned delivery in September 2014. www.clydeunion.com
Pentair creates Fairbanks Nijhuis
Flowserve increases Vernon workforce
Pentair has brought its Fairbanks Morse and Pentair Nijhuis brands together to form Fairbanks Nijhuis.
Flowserve Corp is planning to hire more than 70 people at its Vernon, California facility before the end of the year.
Fairbanks Nijhuis will serve a number of markets including water supply, wastewater pumping, flood control, power generation, desalination, agricultural irrigation and fire protection. The company will also deliver professional services including installation, maintenance, repair, refurbishment and training.
Design, manufacturing, testing and R&D will continue to operate out of Fairbanks Nijhuis’s facilities in Kansas City, USA and Winterswijk, the Netherlands. Nijhuis Pompen BV was part of Norit Holdings BV’s Clean Process Technologies division, which Pentair acquired last year. www.pentair.com www.nijhuis.com
