300 attended the sixth annual Eastern Regional meetN early ing of the APhA Academy of Pharmaceutical Science's industrial pharmaceutical technology section on November 14 in Philadelphia. At the morning session microemulsion technology was discussed by Bernard Siegel of Bristol-Myers; antacid formulations were presented by Richard Brogle of WarnerLambert Research Institute and developmental research in contract aerosol filling was reviewed by Charles Swartz of Ciba. Biopharmaceutics were featured in the afternoon session by Kenneth Heimlich of Menley James and Earl Rosen of Smith Kline and French. Charles Lee of the University of Pennsylvania was featured as luncheon speaker.

medal of honor to pharmacist harmacist Walter J. Marm, Jr. received the nation's highest P military award for valor from Army Secretary Stanley R. Resor in Washington ceremonies, December 19. Lt. Marm of the 1st Cavalry Airmobile Division was awarded the Medal of Honor for courage displayed in the battle of Ia Drang in Vietnam. Marm was graduated from Duquesne University school of pharmacy in 1964. During his collegiate career he was a student member of APhA.

It is not often that I hear about a unique project but I have heard about one from Florida. The Florida State Pharmaceutical Association, which has affiliated with APhA, has a very active ladies auxiliary. At its annual meeting last May the group voted to adopt an emblem. Mrs. Hinton F. Bevis, publicity chairman for the Florida auxiliary and designer of the emblem described it recently to me in a letterThis emblem portrays the threefold purpose of our auxiliary. The clasped hands signify the friendship and social aspects of our group and are further emphasized with the Latin word "amicitia" meaning friendship. The hands supporting the mortar and pestle mean just that -the support we give our husbands and their profession. The word "succursus" means support. The hand

with the torch and the words on the page which are taken from our bylaws depict the emphaSis we place on our scholarship and student loan funds. The word "scientia" is used to convey this thought.
