Environmental Pollution was established to publish research papers dealing mainly with the ecological and biological effects of pollution and pollution control. During the nine years of the journal's existence the number of papers submitted has increased so greatly that we have increased the number of issues published each year from four to twelve. Nevertheless we have had to restrict our acceptance to papers primarily concerned with ecological and biological effects, and have had, often reluctantly, to refuse otherwise valuable contributions which deal mainly with chemical and physical factors. Our contributors and readers have pointed out that these papers may contain material essential for the understanding of biological problems, and that it may be difficult to find an outlet that is easily available to those working in the biological fields. We have therefore decided that, as from I January 1980, Enrironmental Pollution will be issued in two series, to meet this obvious need. The two series will be as follows:
SERIES A - - E C O L O G Y A N D B I O L O G Y This will in effect be the journal as it is at present produced, with twelve issues in 1980.
