Hexcel acquires full ownership of Formax BUSINESS

Hexcel Corporation has announced that it has acquired full ownership of Formax UK Limited. Hexcel acquired a 50% interest in the privately-owned company in December 2014. Located in Leicester, UK, Formax is a manufacturer of composite reinforcements, specializing in the production of lightweight carbon fiber multi-axials and glass fiber and aramid fiber fabrics. The purchase

of the remaining interest in Formax will allow Hexcel to advance dry reinforcements technology for future aerospace applications and provide scale for growing industrial markets. ‘Our joint venture has demonstrated how well Formax technologies and products complement our product line and will help us grow our aerospace and industrial businesses,’ said Hexcel’s chairman, CEO

Composites Germany sets objectives for 2016 Composites Germany has set out its plans for the organization for 2016. This includes continuing the organisation’s work on standards and standardization and focusing on education and training. It also aims to guarantee a seamless chain

of training and educational programs for the entire sector. Sustainability and recycling will be a further key area for all the member organizations, Composites Germany said.

ELG Carbon Fibre Ltd receives AS/EN9100 certification ELG Carbon Fibre, a supplier of recycled carbon fiber products, has achieved AS/ EN9100 quality management system certification from Bureau Veritas for its recovery of carbon fiber from manufacturing waste and end of life products and manufacture of recycled carbon fiber materials and products.

The AS/EN9100 standard is designed to meet the demands of the aviation and aerospace industry. It aims to provide a harmonised global standard for all manufacturers. ‘Achieving this certification is a significant milestone in terms of our ongoing
