Gorman-Rupp to acquire Sulzer expands American Turbine Pump production in China The Gorman-Rupp Co’s National Pump Co subsidiary has reached an agreement to acquire American Turbine Pump. Headquartered in Lubbock, Texas, USA, American Turbine Pump is a group of companies that manufacture and distribute energy-efficient vertical turbine and submersible
pumps mainly for the domestic and international agricultural, municipal and industrial markets. The company, which has two other locations in Houston, Texas and Fresno, California, had 2011 revenues of around US$15 million. www.gormanrupp.com www.americanturbine.net
ITT buys Bornemann ITT Corp has completed the €206 million acquisition of the German pump manufacturer Joh Heinr Bornemann GmbH. Bornemann specialises in highly engineered pumps and systems for the oil & gas industry, as well as for the industrial, food and pharmaceutical sectors. “Our acquisition of Bornemann Pumps and its leading edge technologies will further position ITT as a leader within the global oil & gas industry,” said Denise Ramos, ITT CEO and president. “We look forward to unlocking powerful new opportunities to serve customers through expanded global operational and service platforms.”

Allweiler delivers pumps to Russian bitumen plant The 21 Allweiler screw and centrifugal pumps that Colfax Fluid Handling has supplied for a bitumen production facility in Novoshakhtinsk, Russia will go into service in early 2013. Thirteen Allweiler SNH series screw pumps and eight Allweiler CNH-B, CTWH and NTWH series centrifugal

pumps will move bitumen, residue products, water and heat transfer oils. Pumps used in high-temperature applications above 150°C will use double-jacket casings for heating with superheated steam. These pumps permit stable operation up to a pumping temperature of 270°C. www.allweiler.de
Sulzer has invested CHF10 million in a new wastewater pump production facility in Kunshan, China. Up to 70 employees will assemble around 10 000 pumps, mixers and compressors annually for the water supply and wastewater treatment industries. The Kunshan plant will initially manufacture for the Chinese market. Other Asian countries will be added at a later date.
“The production facility in Kunshan will increase our competitiveness in China and shorten our delivery times,” said Kim Jackson, president of Sulzer Pumps. Sulzer Pumps already has two other manufacturing facilities in Dalian and Suzhou, producing pumps for the hydrocarbon processing, oil & gas, power generation, and pulp and paper industries. www.sulzer.com
Amarinth supplies API 610 pumps for FPSO In a £550 000 order, Amarinth is to provide five API 610 pumps for the new Quad 204 Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel currently under construction and destined for the North Sea. The five Amarinth API 610 OH2 A-Series super duplex pumps, with Plan 53B buffer fluid seal support systems mounted on bespoke baseplates, will be installed in the produced water treatment and
reservoir pressure maintenance re-injection package being provided by M-I SWACO. Working with John Crane and BP engineers, Amarinth developed an integrated pump and seal support system package on a bespoke baseplate that could be accommodated within the very restricted deck space of the vessel. www.amarinth.com
PSG opens Shanghai facility Dover Corp’s Pump Solutions Group (PSG) has a new plant in Shanghai, China. The 11 000 sq m facility, which is located in the Shanghai suburb of Lingang, includes pump manufacturing and testing, a hydraulic lab for on-site product testing, a 30-seat training room for instruction and education, and a product showroom.
Dean Douglas, president of PSG, said the new facility will be the cornerstone for the company’s operations in Asia. “This represents a significant investment in the global growth of the PSG brand and illustrates our commitment to the expansion of our operations in the crucial Chinese and Asia-Pacific regions,” said Douglas. www.psgdover.com
