Gorman-Rupp to acquire Morrison Pump

Weir Gabbioneta opens new plant in Italy

The Gorman-Rupp Co's Patterson Pump Co has completed a letter of intent to acquire Morrison Pump Co.

Weir Gabbioneta has invested more than €30 million in a new 18 000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Milan, Italy.

Founded in 1999, Hollywood, Florida, USA-based Morrison manufactures and services large capacity pumping systems primarily for the municipal flood control and water management markets in North and South America, the Middle East and Asia. Morrison’s 2016 sales are expected to be around US$7 million. Gorman-Rupp says that Morrison’s continued growth will be increased through its integration with Patterson Pump, a manufacturer of large-scale flood control, wastewater management and fire suppression pumps and pump systems. “Morrison’s solid customer relationships and growth history will help

expand sales in targeted niche markets complementary to Patterson Pump Co’s significant and growing leadership position in large scale flood control and municipal water management pumps and pump systems based in the USA and Ireland,” said Al Huber, president of Patterson Pump. Jorge Cortes and Michael Murazzi, founders and principal owners of Morrison, jointly said: “We are excited about our increased expansion prospects as we now partner with the major additional capabilities and experience of Patterson Pump Co, and the global multiple-markets pump systems reputation and resources of The Gorman-Rupp Co.” www.gormanrupp.com www.morrisonpump.com www.pattersonpumps.com

The new plant, which includes larger testing capability for more powerful pumps, will allow Weir Gabbioneta to expand its product portfolio for downstream oil and gas, petrochemical and power generation customers. The Nova Milanese facility will manufacture and support centrifugal pump products and services and employ almost 300 people. Weir Group chief executive Keith Cochrane said: “Weir Gabbioneta customers around the world now have access to decades of engineering expertise supported by

the most advanced manufacturing facilities. It gives the business a great platform to grow in the future as it offers a wider variety of solutions to meet the world’s growing demand for energy.” “Weir Gabbioneta is one of Italy’s industrial success stories and this investment is further proof of that. Our highly skilled engineers have a facility which is more efficient and adaptable, and our customers will benefit from a broader range of highly engineered solutions,” said Weir Group Flow Control Division managing director John Heasley. Once commissioned, they will pump natural gas liquids from the bottom of the demethanizer to plant battery limits. The LMV-803Lr is the high-flow variant of the Sundyne LMV technology in a direct-drive package. The LMV-803Lr features Sundyne inducer technology and a backswept impeller, allowing it to reach lower NPSH requirements without the risk of cavitation.
