SPX to supply dairy processing system for baby food plant in Belarus SPX Corp has secured a contract worth more than US$28 million to provide a dairy processing system to Biocom Ltd for its new baby food factory in Nesvizh, Belarus. The turnkey dairy processing system will feature a range of SPX solutions using ultrafiltration and infusion technologies. The SPX equipment will include homogenizers, separators, plate and scraped surface heat exchangers, bacteria clarifiers, pumps, valves, membrane technology, extended shelf life technology with microfiltration and ultra high temperature tubular infusion plants. “SPX is working with Biocom to establish a state-of-the-art dairy processing plant in Belarus
that is designed to deliver high capacity while also being highly flexible and highly efficient,” said Marc Michael, president of SPX Flow Food and Beverage. “We are leveraging our deep expertise in fresh dairy processing to help Biocom create a dairy plant that is optimised for product consistency, operational efficiency, food safety and sustainability.” The Nesvizh baby food factory will be able to process 500 tons of milk per day. H2O Innovation awarded water treatment contracts worth C$12mn H2O Innovation Inc has secured C$12 million in new contracts, mainly in the mining and municipal sectors. One of the new contracts is for the design, fabrication and commissioning of a complete water treatment plant at a mining site in British Columbia, Canada. The plant, which will treat mine tailings water, comprises ultrafiltration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO) systems. As part of the UF pre-treatment system, H2O Innovation will supply its Fiberflex skid, which provides membrane interchangeability and accommodates several types of modules. H2O Innovation will supply a containerized potable water treatment system for a workers camp at another mining project in Quebec province, Canada. This unit will produce 0.12 MGD (480 m3/day) of drinking water.
A third contract with a Vancouver-based mining company covers the design, fabrication and commissioning of a RO system to treat water from a tailings pond at a US mining site. The Canadian company has also secured a number of contracts with US municipalities. These include the design, fabrication and commissioning of a 12 MGD (45 425 m3/day) UF system, using the Fiberflex skid, to treat clarified raw water in Colorado. H2O Innovation will also design, manufacture and commission a 0.72 MGD (2725 m3/day) RO water treatment system to treat brackish water in Palm Coast, Florida, while a containerised advanced water treatment system will be supplied to a municipality in California and a 1.0 MGD (3785 m3/day) UF system will treat industrial and municipal effluent at San Francisco Airport’s Mel Leong tertiary treatment plant. www.h2oinnovation.com
Management buyout at Polyester Fibers North American nonwoven polyester materials manufacturer Polyester Fibers LLC has completed a managementled buyout from its parent company Empire Investment Holdings. The buyout was funded by Polyester Fibers’ management team and financing was provided by JPMorgan Chase and Salem Investment Partners. Polyester Fibers manufactures and distributes precisionengineered, nonwoven polyester materials for the filtration, furniture and bedding, automotive, craft and seasonal markets in North America, Europe and Asia. The company’s Cumulus Fibres division has manufactured polyester media for the air filtration industry for more than 35 years, serving the industrial, commercial and residential markets.

Andritz to upgrade deinking line for Indian paper mill Andritz has received an order from Danalakshmi Paper Mills to rebuild an existing deinking pulp line in Tamil Nadu, India. The Andritz order includes two SelectaFlot flotation stages, a
