Aspen celebrates Queen’s Award for Innovation Aspen Pumps has been awarded the Queen's Award for Innovation. It is the second time the UK-based company has been awarded a Queen's Award. This latest recognition is for Aspen's commitment to providing 'innovative, market leading products'. The award also recognises Aspen's development of a 'pioneering range of pumps', designed for all types of air conditioning installation, and its emphasis on designing and producing products that focus on
the air conditioning engineer, has seen Aspen Pumps products in 100 countries worldwide. Adrian Thompson, CEO of Aspen Pumps, said: ''Aspen Pumps was started because there was a gap in the market that needed to be filled. Installers were using pumps that weren’t fit for purpose, that were cumbersome and difficult to maintain. The engineers that founded the company wanted to provide the market with a pump that would be easy to maintain and which would inevitably make
life easier for the installer. The ethos of filling market requirements and product innovation hasn’t changed since 1992. We pride ourselves on pushing back boundaries and giving installers what they actually want.'' The company added that being awarded previously for the Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2009 was 'a huge achievement, but being awarded the Queen's Award for innovation just a few years later is testament to the

For Environmental Contribution of the Year, sponsored by SPP Pumps, Xylem Water Solutions UK for Veolia Water was the winner (pictured), and this year’s Manufacturer of the Year, sponsored by AESSEAL, went to SPP Pumps. Xylem receives Environmental Contribution award.
This year’s glittering Pump Industry Gala Awards ceremony saw eight winners presented with prizes in the annual celebration of the best in the pumps industry. Held at the Chesford Grange, Warwickshire, UK, the delighted teams and individuals joined TV presenter Helen Fospero, sponsors, and organisers the British Pump Manufacturers' Association, on stage to collect their trophies. In the Technical Innovation of the Year – Products category, sponsored by World Pumps, the award went to KSB SALINO Pressure Center. The audience saw Distributor of the Year, which was sponsored by WEG Electric Motors, awarded to Tomlinson Hall & Co, and Supplier of the Year, sponsored by Process Industry Informer, went to ABB. There were two awards presented to individuals during the evening. Engineer of the Year, sponsored by KSB, was won by Jamie Lightly, SPP Pumps, and the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by BPMA, was presented to John Veness, ITT Goulds Pumps.
AESSEAL, the specialist in mechanical seals for pumps, has launched the patent pending EasyClean seal support system for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. The UK-based company claims that EasyClean is 'a unique, cost effective solution to improve hygiene standards' for those involved in those sectors. Despite the requirements of these industries to maintain a high level of hygiene in the production lines and throughout their factories, it is frequently the case that the seal support systems harbour dirt and bacteria on the interior of the main vessel. This is due to their inherently enclosed design, which makes them difficult to inspect, clean and maintain high levels of hygiene. The EasyClean vessel, developed by AESSEAL, is the 'ideal solution' for industries, which require more
control over the level of hygiene in their plants. EasyClean has a detachable lower section, which enables the vessel to be taken apart for inspection and cleaning. This removable lower section, offers manufacturers the opportunity to quickly inspect and clean their systems without severely impacting on costs, production or product quality, whilst also eliminating the harmful build-up of dirt and bacteria.
