Met-Pro acquires Bio-Reaction Industries

M

et-Pro Corp has bought almost all of the assets, including the patents and technology of Bio-Reaction Industries LLC (BRI), a Tualatin, Oregon, USAbased company that designs and manufactures biological air pollution control systems that use microbes to digest industrial and municipal pollutants and eliminate odours. Raymond De Hont, Met-Pro chairman and CEO, said that the acquisition of BRI significantly enhances Met-Pro’s competitive position in both the municipal and industrial global markets by providing not only state-of-the-art biological technologies, but also a broad global reference base of customers. “BRI’s patented biological technology, which is a perfect complement to our MetPro Environmental Air Solutions’ thermal oxidizer and chemical scrubber technologies, strengthens our “Total Air Solutions” value proposition, allowing us to better address the increasingly more stringent environmental regulations and the global focus on greenhouse gas reduction,” said De Hont. “We believe our extensive relationships within the municipal market will enable us to quickly grow BRI’s municipal market share, while BRI’s relationships within a diverse base of industrial markets provides opportunities to introduce Met-Pro’s broad range of solutions to new markets.” The Bio-Reaction technology will sit within Met-Pro’s Environmental Air Solutions business, which already includes Duall, Flex-Kleen and Met-Pro Systems. BRI operates in the emerging, energy efficient biofiltration industry with strategic partners in Europe and Asia. The company serves the wood products, paint and coating, chemical processing, municipal utility, food and beverage and automotive industries. Customers include Louisiana Pacific, Weyerhaeuser, Sherwin Williams, Bangor Naval Station, and US municipalities such as Wilsonville, Oregon and Falmouth, Massachusetts.

hina’s Tri-Tech Holding Inc has entered into a distribution, services and cooperation agreement with Hydration Technology Innovations LLC (HTI), an Oregon, USA-based manufacturer of forward osmosis membranes, modules and systems. Under the agreement, which covers sales within China, Tri-Tech will sell and integrate the HTI licensed technology such as forward osmosis (FO) modules into complete system packages with related ancillary services including engineering, management, construction, design and consulting. The agreement licenses the use of HTI technology in Tri-Tech products as well as other companies’ products. Tri-Tech is also licensed to distribute HTI’s personal hydration products. Tri-Tech and HTI are currently preparing a proposal for a landfill leachate treatment project in North China. Both companies will work closely and develop technology and engineering expertise in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment and reuse, water purification, seawater desalination, and sludge concentration and dewatering. Tri-Tech president Phil Fan said: “Our new cooperation agreement with HTI allows TriTech to offer our customers one of the most innovative technologies in the world.” HTI CEO Walter Schultz added: “TriTech is positioning itself as a leading provider of wastewater systems in the growing Chinese market, and its management and engineers have demonstrated the forward thinking and creativity we seek in strategic partners. HTI is fully prepared to support Tri-Tech with its development of forward osmosis landfill leachate treatment systems as well as all other market segments.” Tri-Tech CEO Warren Zhao expects the introduction of FO technology in China to generate valuable new business opportunities for both HTI and Tri-Tech. “We also believe that, with strong integration of the leading FO membrane technology from HTI and excellent engineering and marketing capabilities from Tri-Tech, our new technology-oriented products and services could see increased demand in the
