&UTiz 15, 1970 The Stated Meeting of The Franklin Institute was held at 8.15 P.M. in the Lecture Hall following a reception and dinner in the Franklin Hall Lobby at which 19 Freshmen Members were honored. Dr. Bowen C. Dees, President, presided and called the meeting to order with approximately 184 members and guests present. Before adjourning to the Lecture Hall, Dr. Dees called on Dr. Fenton Keyes, Manager of Behavioral and Social Science Laboratory,* who gave a short talk on “Educational Evaluation”, which was given to keep members informed of current research programs at The Franklin Institute. The President stated that the minutes of the Stated Meeting of November 1969 have been published in the January issue of the Journal of The Franklin Institute. There being no corrections or additions the minutes were approved as printed. Dr. Dees introduced the honored guest and speaker, Dr. E. D. Reed, Executive Director of the Solid State Components Division of the Bell Telephone Laboratories at Murray Hill, N.J. Dr. Reed, author of several articles on education, delivered a very impressive lecture entitled “Magnetic Bubbles” showing how computers can change and influence our lives. At the close of Dr. Reed’s address, which included unusual films and slides, the audience had many questions. Dr. Dees expressed sincere thanks to the lecturer on behalf of the Institute and the entire assembly for his stimulating talk, and adjourned the meeting at 9.45 P.N. PETER
