FOCUS bleaching of the coating. FTIR analysis of exposed panels in Florida has demonstrated the presence of the same photobyproducts but a contribution of hydrolysis of ester groups and/or oxidation of CH sites have to be integrated in this mechanism as demonstrated by SEPAP 12.24H in which UV light and aerated water are simultaneously in contact with the exposed panels in Florida. intelligence network within the new-look Akzo Nobel, a new cooperation has been set up which combines the resources of both Coatings and Chemicals. The collaborative arrangement merges the expertise of the decentralised Chemicals Business Intelligence (BI) network and the Market Intelligence and Planning Support (MIPS) group from Coatings. This means that the MIPS group, which was formerly dedicated solely to Coatings, is now also involved in Chemicals intelligence. The result is a single market intelligence partnership, which operates company-wide. Akzo Nobel officially announced the establishment of the new partnership, essentially a network of employees who are the company’s eyes and ears in the global marketplace, at a recent conference held in the Netherlands. The new cooperation has a vital role to play in supporting the company’s strategic planning. The new MIPS now reports to the Corporate Strategy department in Arnhem and some of the challenges facing the recently established partnership include providing high profile news alerts, strategic analyses and focused advice on how markets and competitors will develop.
