...Continued from front page of its brine concentration systems substantially reduces both the capital costs and, in particular, the operating costs necessary. Following the successful assessment of the economics of the technology, the parties are jointly funding and deploying a pilot test plant at an operational wastewater treatment site in India, and will complete testing by the end of 2016. During the initial pilot phase, the plant will demonstrate to the customer the full economic and process advantages of the technology – specifically the significant reduction in wastewater volume for subsequent brine crystalliser treatment at low operational cost, compared with existing processes. commented: ‘We are pleased to partner with Advent Envirocare in the important Indian market and are confident that together we will be able to bring quantifiable benefits to customers by significantly lowering the cost of wastewater treatment in achieving ZLD standards.’ ‘Furthermore, this will allow for a much more economic and practical way to minimise industrial discharges to the environment. This project will clearly demonstrate the benefits of Modern Water’s approach and will enable the company to promote its brine concentration technology throughout the world.’ Soham Mehta, Managing Director, Advent Envirocare Technology, added: ‘As partners, Advent Envirocare and Modern Water will use cutting-edge technology to benefit our custom-

New operational base helps Porvair expand into Chinese market place
T
argeting further global growth, Porvair Filtration Group is now marketing and selling its complete range of products from a facility in Xiaogan, China. The move represents a significant international step for the company which has operational bases only in the USA, UK and Benelux regions, and further strengthens its multi-national position. Porvair has been growing its business in Asia for many years and has built up a network of sales channels into industries such as water treatment, medical devices, chemical processing and energy. The firm says that it has worked on some of Asia’s largest gasification projects, providing advanced char filtration systems to customers such as POSCO in South Korea and Reliance 16

Industries Ltd in India. However, the Wuhan base, in north-central Hubei province, will enable it to directly service local needs in the region, enhancing the agility of the business. The company – honoured in the UK last year with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade – says it will introduce capabilities in response to market demand, as its presence in Asia grows, and will initially manufacture filters for coal gasification. It expects to expand its interests, long-term, in water treatment, printing, polymer and industrial processes, with local employment opportunities growing in tandem. The Wuhan facility – which has significant capacity for future expansion – will be run by Jason Goo, General Manager.
Tom Liddell, Managing Director, Porvair Filtration, said: ‘We see this as a significant milestone for us as we continue to target new international markets. This new facility will act as a focal point for all our interests in Asia and a platform for future growth of this important geographic segment.’ Contacts: Porvair Filtration Group Ltd, 1 Concorde Close, Segensworth, Fareham, Hampshire PO15 5RT, UK.
