beautiful and functional. Best of all, the new design maximizes the available space and will allow the association to grow and continue to meet the needs of its members and the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery. On Saturday evening, September 15, the association rededicated its headquarters at an open house with an invitation list that included the leadership of our collegial oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental organizations, including the ADA, ABOMS, and the Academy of Osseointegration. Also invited were representatives of the Village of Rosemont, AAOMS’s state representative Skip Saviano, and AAOMS members practicing in the Chicago area.
Sessions specifically for oral and maxillofacial surgery staff are also offered in conjunction with the dental implant conference. Two half-day Dental Implant Assisting Skills Labs will be held on Saturday, December 1, and a 1.5 day Anesthesia Assistants Review Course is scheduled for Sunday and Monday, December 2 and 3. Be sure to shop the diverse exhibition and acquaint yourself with the latest resources to aid your practice. And, don’t miss Friday evening’s reception. This conference halfway point is your chance to relax and unwind with colleagues or share and debate the last 1.5 days’ sessions. Call AAOMS at 800/822-6637 or visit aaoms.org for more information. RENOVATED AAOMS HEADQUARTERS REDEDICATED AT OPEN HOUSE
AAOMS President Dr W. Mark Tucker welcomed the crowd to the remodeled headquarters, the “home” of oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the United States, and read the following dedication, which appears on a plaque in the building’s entry: In reverent memory of our colleagues who have gone before us and in honor and anticipation of the oral and maxillofacial surgeons who will follow in our footsteps, we rededicate the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons headquarters building at 9700 West Bryn Mawr Avenue, Rosemont, Illinois on this date, September 15, 2007. The project, which revitalized the appearance, functionality, and technological infrastructure of the building, was completed on time and, remarkable for a project of this magnitude, incurred a cost overrun of less than 1%.
After many months of demolition, construction dust, and the excitement of redecorating a new space, the renovation of the AAOMS headquarters building in Rosemont, IL is complete. The results are both
