Assembly
for filtration
The ‘Filseal’ filter assembly
has
been designed for the high pressure filtration of waterborne or solvent based viscous fluids such as waxes and WC sealants. The system has been developed by Pall Corporation. The Filseal assembly incorporates a Pall absolute rated filter cartridge which is constructed from ‘Rigimesh’ media. This is a woven stainless
of viscous fluids steel wire mesh that has been sintered to produce a very strong material with the wires effectively welded at their intersections to ensure pore size integrity even under arduous operating conditions. It is this absolute rated filter cartridge that ensures consistent, reproducible filtrate quality which in turn reduces downtime due to nozzle block-
age on automated spray systems. The Filseal cartridge can be cleaned and re-used. Cleaning can be carried out on site using a soft brush and suitable solvent, or alternatively the cartridge can be returned to Pall for more comprehensive cleaning. Manufactured from either carbon steel of 316L stainless
steel, the Fi1sea.lassembly has a maximum operating pressure of 420 bar g and a maximum operating temperature of about 50°C. Typical flow rates are 9 to 14 l/min for fluids of 60 000 to 70 000 cP viscosity. Pall Ccnpomtkm, Europa House, Havant Stnxt, Portsmouth, PO1 3PD, UK. Tel: + 44 705 303303,

Oil mist extraction units The control and capture of oil mist, generated during machinery operations, is a problem addressed by a new range of filtration units from environmental control specialists, Neu Engineering. Deltoil C not only ensures a healthier working environment, by the filtration and purification of the surrounding air, but also reduces fire risk and increases productivity. The units extract and collect oil mist from machine tools such as grinding and milling machines and automatic lathes. Deltoil is also suitable for screw cutting, wire and tube production and bearing manufacture. These compact, costeffective units incorporate high efficiency filters, direct drive fan and collection tank. Operation is simple. An intake pipe feeds the extracted air, containing oil in suspension, into a static screw mechanism, which causes the mist to coalesce in the air. Oil droplets subsequently drip into the receiving tank. Filtration is effected in three stages, commencing with an angled, woven wire mesh filter onto which oil is deposited to drain into the receiving tank. Regenerative final filters complete the process, the pressure drop being monitored by a manometer. An integral syphon drain removes the collected oil. High air volumes and flows can be created by Deltoil C. These range from 2000 m3/h (model 2000) to 10 000 m3/h (model 10 000). All units meet BS regulation, with an emission level efficiency of less than 0.2 mg/ m3 and a gravimetric efficiency of over 99.5%.
