The Forty-Second Physical Electromcs Conference ti be held at the Atlanta Biltmore Hotel, Atlanta, GA, June 14-16, 1982 The conference committee mv~tes the submlsslon of expenmental and theoretical papers concerned vvlth the physics and chemistry of solid surfaces and interfaces. Such papers may relate to the electronic, crystallographic, or electronic structure of surfaces and interfaces as obtamed by electron &ffractlon and by V~IIOUSoptical and electron spectroscoples Both the static and dynamic properties of surfaces, which are clean or mcorporate known foreign atoms, are of Merest Papers which present new methods of surface analysis and charactenzatlon are also acceptable The emphasis of the conference, however, IS on the descnptron of surface and interface properties and processed at a fundamental atomic and molecular level Further detruls of the conference mcludmg a detied statement of paper selection clnterla and abstract format can be obtained from the local chmman Prof U Landman, School of Physics, Georp Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA 30332, U S.A The deadline for receipt of abstracts 1s Apnl16,1982
