he year 1966 marks the 25th anniversary of the occasion when a handful of prominent men in American pharmacy banded together to launch the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy. Since then its programs have expanded as has its membership but its basic aims as stated by its first director, George Urdang, have remained unchangedTo equip the pharmacist for citizenship in the world of intellectual and moral responsibility by making him familiar with the nontechnical and humanistic ramifications of the profession and to do pharmacy's share in the cooperative endeavor for making the historical record of world civilization as complete as possible.

educators to analyze instruction Purpose, implementation and "digestion" through-study groups will be the normal working procedure for those attending the Teachers' Seminar on Pharmaceutical Education sponsored by AFPE July 10-15, 1966. Centered around the theme, "Analysis in Depth of the Elements of Instruction," the seminar meetings will be held at the unique Oklahoma Center for Continuing Education on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Co-chaired by Loyd E. Harris and Herbert R. Hengst, meetings will include discussion of such topics as purposes of education, implementing purposes through instructional programs, core courses in the curriculum, use of new and forthcoming instructional materials, use of supplementary resources such as the library and health institutions and methods of continuing education and improving instruction in continuing education. A feature of the meeting will be a special program, the Pharmacy Librarians Conference, planned for both pharmacy librarians and guests on July 13.

postdoctoral training -NIH is offering awards for postdoctoral training as research associate in pharmacology in a wide range of disciplines related to major aspects of modern pharmacology. Training will be for a two-year period. Stipends will be based on candidate's training, experience and accomplishments. Applications should be submitted by May 9,1966 for appointments to begin July 1,1967. PCPS dedicated its main building, Griffith Hall in January, in honor of late Ivor Griffith, past-president ofthe college. Mrs. D. Griffith Schiller and Dr. Arthur Osol, PCPS president, unveil the plaque that will be placed above the main entrance of the building. The college also announced plans to construct a two-story, 24-laboratory, research building for basic research in pharmaceutical sciences. The research center, a gift of the Robert McNeil family, will house labs for faculty and graduate students.
