An in-depth study of dinuclear Cd and Pbcysteamine complexes has been carried out using NMR, IR, mass spectrometry and X-ray crystallography. The intermolecular hydrogen-bonding involving nitrogen, sulfur and counter anion has not been reported for similar dinuclear complexes, except for [Hg(aet)2]Cl2, previously reported by us. The structures described here should contribute to the understanding of fundamental Cd and Pb-thiolate chemistry of simple as well as complex molecules such as metallothioneins.

Treatment of [Ru3(CO)10(l-dppm)] (1) with PPh3S at ambient temperature gave [Ru3(CO)7(l3-CO)(l3-S)(l-dppm)] (2) and [Ru3(CO)6(l3-CO)(l3-S)(PPh3)(l-dppm)] (3). The reaction of [Ru3(CO)7(l3-S)2(l-dppm)] (4) with PPh3 in the presence of Me3NO afforded 3, [Ru3(CO)6(l3-S)2(PPh3)(l-dppm)] (5) and [(l-H)2Ru3(CO)7(l3-S)(l-dppm)] (6). A similar reaction of [Ru3(CO)7(l3-S)(l3-Se)(l-dppm)] (7) with PPh3 afforded [Ru3- (CO)6(l3-S)(l3-Se)(PPh3)(l-dppm)] (8). Protonation of 4 and 7 with CF3COOH gave [(l-H)Ru3(CO)7(l3-S)2-(l-dppm)] (10) and [(l-H)Ru3-(CO)7(l3-Se)(l3-S)(l-dppm)]+ (11), respectively, isolated as their PF6 salts.

The syntheses, characterisations, photophysical properties and their applications in organic light emitting devices of a series of 2-phenylbenzothiazolato (bt)/substituted 2-phenylbenzothiazolato (X-bt) platinum(II) based square-planar complexes [(X-bt)Pt(acac); acac = acetylacetonate; X = unsubstituted, F, OMe and CF3] are reported.

New binuclear copper(II) complexes were prepared using penta and hexadentate ligands and characterized by various spectral studies. Electrochemical and magnetic studies of these complexes were carried out.

The EPR spectra of copper(II) complexes of the type [Cu(1-BunAAUH)2]Cl2, where 1-BunAAUH = 1-n-butylamidino-O-alkylurea, in frozen solutions of DMF showed a signal at g ca. 2. In addition to this, a signal at half the resonance field having a well resolved sevenline hyperfine structure was observed, which have been interpreted as arising from DMs = ±1 and DMs = ±2 transitions. The complexes show growth inhibitory activity against pathogenic fungi and bacteria.

Two-step complexation of pyridyl functionalized diketonate ligands allows preparation of a number of heterobimetallic coordination polymers with alternation of Be and Cd(Zn) metal ions.

EPR studies on pseudo-square-planar copper(II) complexes of naphthoquinone– thiosemicarbazones of the formula [CuLCl] reveal appreciable covalency in the metal– ligand bonding as a consequence of extensive delocalization, while cyclic voltammetric response of these complexes suggests metalcentered redox behavior. There exists a linear relationship between the degree of tetrahedral distortion f(a) with EPR and redox parameters.

Six new double salts of silver(I) acetylenediide, namely [Ag13(C2)2(CF3CO2)9(bipy)4(H2O)3] (1), [Ag18(C2)2(C2F5CO2)18(bipyH)4] Æ 3H2O (2), [Ag6(C2)(CF3CO2)4(bpp)] (3), [Ag6(C2)(C2F5CO2)5(bppH)]n (4), [Ag6(C2)(CF3CO2)5(bppH)]n (5) and [Ag23(C2)4(CF3CO2)15(bpp)6] Æ H2O (6) (bipy = bpp = bis(4-pyridyl)pro4,40 -bipyridine, pane), have been shown to exhibit a variety of discrete and higher-dimensional supramolecular architectures.

A series of silver complexes of coumarinbased ligands showed significant anti-microbial activity, particularly against the clinically important methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacterium and also demonstrated good activity, comparable to that of the commercial fungicides clortrimazole and ketoconazole, against a clinical isolate of the fungal pathogen Candida albicans.

The lithium-1-azaallyl complexes [LiN(Ar)C(R)CHR0 (D)] 1 and the diazahexatriene 2 were obtained in moderate yields from LiCHR2 or LiCH(R)Ph(tmen) and ArNC [Ar ¼ C6 H3 ðPri 2 -2; 6Þ or C6 H3 ðBut 2 -2; 5Þ]. All compounds were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray crystallography. 1b–1d were found to be monomeric in the solid state with 1b adopting an unusual anti-conformation.

The amino substituents of (trans-6,13-diamino-6,13-dimethyl-1, 4, 8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane)copper(II) are acylated by reaction with acetic or propionic anhy-drides to form the 6,13-bismethylamido or bis(ethylamido) substituted cations.
