Fumiaki Imamura, PhD, MS, Joins the Journal’s Board of Editors Fumiaki Imamura is a senior investigator scientist with the Medical Research Council Epidemiology Unit of the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine in Cambridge, UK. Imamura received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan; a master’s in Nutrition from Columbia University; and a PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology from Tufts University, and postdoctoral training at the Harvard School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology. Imamura’s work has focused on dietary pattern analysis, fatty acid biomarkers, and metaanalysis of dietedisease associations. He has strong methodological expertise in nutritional epidemiology. In 2013, Imamura joined the University of Cambridge and started diabetes research ranging from ‘omics’ analysis to synthesis of dietary evidence.

ACEND Invites Program Accreditation Input Accredited dietetics education programs are periodically reviewed to ensure they uphold the standards set forth by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Part of the program review process is the consideration of thirdparty input on a program’s practices, procedures, and educational outcomes. Members with concern as to a program’s compliance with the standards are encouraged to forward their comments to ACEND. ANNOUNCEMENTS Academy Welcomes Steven Miranda to the Board of Directors Steven Miranda, managing director for Cornell University’s Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies (CAHRS), will be serving on the Academy’s Board of Directors as a public member. Prior to joining Cornell, Miranda was the chief human resource and strategic planning officer for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Before SHRM, Miranda was an HR vice-president at Lucent Technologies. Miranda currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Ethics ª 2015 by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Latest ACEND Accreditation Decisions Published Online The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) is the Academy’s accrediting agency for education programs preparing students for careers as registered dietitian nutritionists and nutrition and dietetics technicians, registered. ACEND establishes and enforces accreditation standards that ensure the quality and continued improvement of nutrition and dietetics education programs. Obituaries Jane Fitchett, RD, May 2014, of Guilford, CT, was a member of the Academy for over 60 years. She graduated from the St Joseph’s University in West Hartford, CT, and completed postgraduate training at the Hospital of St Raphael in New Haven, CT, where she was their first registered dietitian. She became director of Food and Nutrition at St Raphael’s from 1951-1993 where she is still remembered as the finest foodservice director for hundreds of foodservice workers and future

highest standards of service for the hospital community. Sharon Yankelson, RD, LD, June 2015, of Austin, TX, aged 68, was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Coordinated Undergraduate Program in Dietetics in 1982, and was a highly regarded member of the dietetics community in Austin throughout her career. Yankelson worked as the nutrition consultant to Texas Oncology prior to her passing.

National Cancer Institute Dietary Assessment Primer Now Available The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is pleased to announce the availability of a web-based Dietary Assessment Primer.
