Degrémont wins 4-year Panama pumping contract
P
anama Ministry of Health has selected Suez Environnement subsidiary Degrémont to maintain and operate the wastewater collection systems, pumping stations and other networks in Panama City over a four year period. This E65 million contract covers the operation and maintenance of a 162 km system of pipes that is due to be extended to 248 km in 2016. The contract includes the repair of infrastructure and the supply of equipment.
Spanish-Korean consortium awarded sewerage contract in Qatar
A
consortium of Spain’s FCC Aqualia and South Korea’s Hyundai has won the E300 million tender to manage the sewerage system in Al Dhakhira, Qatar for the next 10 years. The project involves the design, construction, operation and maintenance of Al Dhakhira’s wastewater treatment facilities, wastewater pumping stations, transfer pumping station and associated collectors. The new treatment plant will handle an average flow of 56 200 m3 per day and service a population of more than 200 000 residents.
Suez Environnement strengthens presence in Chinese water market
S
uez Environnement, through its subsidiary Sino French Water, is to establish a joint venture with Sichuan Water Supply and Drainage in China.
The new joint venture, Sichuan Sino French Water Environmental Services Co Ltd, will operate and manage water projects invested in by Sichuan Water Supply and Drainage. The majority of these will be water supply projects in urban areas, municipal and industrial wastewater treatment projects, and sludge treatment projects. Suez Environnement has had a presence in Sichuan since 2012, through a partnership with Sichuan Dayi Water Co Ltd that has been in place for 25 years. This joint venture manages and operates eight treatment plants in a rural area in Shuangliu County. In 2013, Suez Environnement, through its subsidiary Sino French Water, also acquired a 65% equity interest in Chongzhou Dayi Water Purification Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Dayi Water, which treats the municipal wastewater of 600 000 residential and industrial users in Chongzhou.
Amey secures £129mn Affinity Water network maintenance contract

mey has been awarded a fiveyear contract, worth £129 million, to maintain Affinity Water’s network in the UK. Under Affinity Water’s Network Infrastructure Maintenance Agreement, Amey will deliver metering installations as well as planned and reactive maintenance. Amey has worked with Affinity Water for the last ten years providing a range of clean water services including mains renewal, new supply connections to the network, mains cleaning schemes as well as installing around 70 km of new water mains every year.
US$102mn wastewater treatment plant planned for Trinidad

CCIONA Agua, in a consortium with the Atlatec Group, will carry out the design, construction and start-up of a wastewater treatment plant and a network of sewers in San Fernando, the second biggest city on the island of Trinidad. The partners will also operate and maintain the plant for one year.
