AAE PARTICIPATION IN ADA ANNUAL SESSION Many members of the AAE attended the ADA's 121st annual meeting held in New Orleans. Involved with ADA administration was Dr. Warren Wakai of Honolulu, who is Second Vice-President. Council members included Drs. John Sowle, Rockford, Ill; Richard Burns, San Marco, Calif; Arthur McFeaters, Pittsburgh; and Jacob Freedland, Charlotte, NC. Serving on the scientific program committee for local arrangements were Drs. Raymond Bassich, Jr., Thomas Flint, and Joseph D. Kirn, all of New Orleans. Drs. Peter E. Brue, Jr., William H. Wayman, both of Metairie, La, and Dr. O. William Reeder, Jr., also of Metairie, served on the special services committee. Essayists for the endodontic program were Drs. tterbert Schilder and Joseph J. Williams, Boston; Raleigh R. Cummings, Newport Beach, Calif; Donald A. Arens, Indianapolis; Harold Gerstein, Milwaukee; Howard Martin, Silver Spring, Md; Walter T. Cunningham, Bethesda, Md; Raymond T. Webber, Gainesville, Fla; and Joe H. Camp, Charlotte, NC. Serving as section chairman was Dr. Noah Ghivian, West Orange, NJ, and as section vice-chairman, Dr. Stephen Schwartz, Houston. Lecture series participants were Drs. Marvin M. Stark, San Francisco, moderator (operative dentistry); Thomas Flint, New Orleans, room director (orthodontics); Maynard K. Hine, Indianapolis, moderator (general interest); Gary N. Taylor, Maywood, Ill, presenter (endodontics); and Reginald W. Hession, Sydney, Australia, presenter (endodontics). Workshop contributors were Drs. Stan P. Cowley, faculty workshop (radiology), and Raymond G. Luebke, faculty (endodontics), both from New Orleans; and James L. Gutmann, director (endodontics), and Eric J. Hovland, codirector (endodontics), both from Baltimore.
AAE members serving in the House of Delegates were Drs. Charles 'L. Siroky, Phoenix; Allan Sander, La Jolla, Calif; Gordon E. Dammann, Lena, Ill; Edward Simmons, Salina, Kan; Anthony D. Dietz, Bloomfield, Mich; William Love, Bimingham, Mich; Donald Erickson, Billings, Mont; Arthur S. Cobin, Yonkers, NY; Ignatius Quartararo, Garden City, NY; Burton J. Kunik, Houston; and Drs. Schilder and McFeaters. Alternate delegates were Drs. Kenneth Sunshine, New London, Conn; Bernard J. Grothaus, Glenview, Ill; Ralph King, Monroe, La; Hugh Morris, Watertown, NY; Ralph J. Shankle, Chapel Hill, NC; and James F. Claypool, Akron, Ohio. The American Association of Endodontists received an honorable mention award for its scientific and educational exhibits on Endodontics Saving Teeth.
STUDY CLUB NEWS Dr. Richard E. Walton, Augusta, Ga, was the guest speaker at the Sept meeting of the Edward C. Penick Study Club, held at the National Naval Dental Center in Bethesda, Md. He discussed the use of various intracanal medications for the reduction of postoperative discomfort and reported
on some of the newer medications now available. Attending were 75 members and guests from Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Guiding the club for the coming year will be Drs. Ed Bernier, president; Burton Zwibel, president-elect; Allan J. Goodfriend, secretary; Khodabakhsh Salamat, treasurer; and Donald Antrim, program chairman. A presentation Treatment of Infecobn by Dr. Edward Seldin, staff surgeon, department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, Massachusetts General Hospital, was the feature of the Nov 11 meeting of the Greater Boston Study Club held at the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge in Cambridge, Mass. The next meeting is scheduled for Jan 26 and will be headlined by Dr. Syngcuk Kim of the Columbia University dental school. His presentation on pulp physiology will consist of an afternoon seminar for endodontic graduate students from Boston University, Tufts, and Forsyth at the Boston University dental school. He also will give an evening lecture to the study club. Study club officers for 1980-1981 are Drs. Shepard Goldstein, president; Jay Marlin, vice-president; and Joseph J. Williams, secretary-treasurer. Special congratulations to Dr. Roger Desilets, Fitchburg, Mass, and Dr. J. Williams, Boston, for passing their oral board examinations in Los Angeles.

Appointed.- Dr. ,Jerry Taintor, faculty member at UCI,A and contributor to the Journal of Endodontics continuing education programs, has been appointed faculty editor of the new UCLA Denttst~ magazine. The magazine is published for alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the UCLA dental school, in cooperation with the UCLA office of health sciences development. The new chairperson of the department of endodontics, University of Michigan dental school is Dr. John F Corcoran, Jr.
Dr. Frank J. Vertucci, associate professor, is chairperson of the department of endodontics, University of Florida dental school, after the retirement of Dr. John F. Bucher. A member of the department since 1975, Dr. Vertucci has been involved in research and has published material regarding root canal morphology.
