Andritz to provide technologies for new Finnish pulp mill

technology and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) to build a world-scale ammonia plant at BASF’s site in Freeport, Texas. The ammonia plant will use KBR’s EPC delivery and technology, including KBR’s ammonia synthesis process, to produce about 750 000 metric tons of ammonia per year. KBR has been involved in the licencing, design, engineering or construction of more than 230 ammonia plants worldwide.

A

ndritz has signed a letter of intent with Metsä Fibre to deliver production technologies for a new bio-product pulp mill in Äänekoski, Finland. The order is worth more than E100 million to Andritz. Andritz’s scope of supply includes a complete wood processing plant, a softwood and hardwood fiberline, a new evaporation system for liquor extraction, chloride removal systems and a recausticizing plant with two centrifuges, white liquor disc filter and lime mud disc filter. The new pulp mill is scheduled to start up in 2017.

Bristol-Myers Squibb invests in Ireland

acobs Engineering Group Inc has secured a contract from Bristol-Myers Squibb Co to provide architectural and engineering services for a new large-scale biologics manufacturing facility in Cruiserath, Co Dublin, Ireland. The new facility will include multiple large scale bioreactors, a purification area, as well as office and laboratory space. The plant is expected to be operational in 2019.

Jacobs to support Australia Pacific LNG facility

J

acobs Engineering Group Inc has signed a multi-year engineering services agreement with ConocoPhillips to support the sustaining capital program for the Australia Pacific LNG facility once it has been completed. The facility, which is located on Curtis Island in Queensland, Australia, consists of two LNG trains, each capable of producing 4.5Mtpa of LNG. First LNG is expected from Train 1 in mid-2015, with Train 2 startup expected 6–9 months later. The Curtis Island plant has the potential to house up to four LNG trains. ConocoPhillips operates the facility on behalf of Australia Pacific LNG. Jacobs’ scope of work includes engineering studies, front-end engineering design (FEED) services, and detail design including procurement, commissioning and construction support for sustaining capital and mid-cap projects at the facility over a four year period. The agreement has the option to be extended for a further four years.

KBR and BG Group sign single partner alliance

G Group has selected KBR Inc as its global upstream alliance partner. The six-year contract, which includes an option for two two-year extensions, will provide capability support, pre-FEED and FEED services and project management across all of BG Group’s Global Upstream Portfolio. “The alliance will provide us with access to dedicated and proven third-party expertise and resources that can be tailored to specific

projects. Importantly, it will focus on enhancing BG Group’s productivity and agility as we develop projects that will deliver the next phase of the company’s growth,” said Sami Iskander, BG Group chief operating officer.

uez Environnement subsidiary Degrémont has acquired Poseidon Inc, a Canadian separation systems manufacturer, and B&V Group, a UK company specialising in water treatment chemicals, equipment and services for industry. Poseidon designs and manufactures dissolved air flotation (DAF) and dissolved gas/nitrogen flotation (DGF/DNF) units, API 421 and other oil/water separators for process water and wastewater treatment in the oil & gas, pulp & paper and food & beverage industries. B&V provides conditioning products and technical services for water related infrastructure including cooling circuits, boiler systems and effluent treatment. The company also supplies equipment, tailor-made engineering and services linked to legionella risks and microbial control problems. B&V serves the healthcare, food & beverage, petrochemical and power industries. The acquisitions are in line with Suez Environnement’s strategy to expand its industrial activity.

POWER GENERATION

Fluor partners with PG&E’s on Diablo Canyon power plant

P

acific Gas and Electric Co (PG&E) has awarded Fluor Corp a fiveyear operations and maintenance contract to serve as the integrated services supplier for the two-unit Diablo Canyon power plant in Avila Beach, California. Fluor will be responsible for site services, facility maintenance, strategic and station projects, engineering services and outage services at the Diablo Canyon facility. The two combined units produce approximately 2300 MW of power.
