Singapore selects Microza membranes
S
ingapore’s largest wastewater reclamation plant, the Second Changi NEWater Plant, will use Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corp’s Microza hollow-fibre membranes. The 288 000 m3/day plant is scheduled to start up operations in October 2016. Microza hollow-fibre membranes are made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and enable the complete removal of bacteria
and pathogenic microorganisms such as cryptosporidium. Over the past decade, the government of Singapore has built a number of NEWater wastewater reclamation plants to secure sufficient water resources. The NEWater plants use various types of microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes, including Microza hollow-fibre membranes at the Ulu Pandan NEWater Plant and the Bedok NEWater Plant.
