NEWS lines as well as modernisation work and field maintenance. The company employs 35 people and has three other Finnish locations in Tornio, Oulu and Vantaa. Flowrox, a family-owned company based in Lappeenranta, southeast Finland, is a global supplier of flow control, pumping, filtration and environmental engineering solutions, as well as intelligent applications and automation systems. With the acquisition of Polar-Automaatio, the company now has 215 employees. Net sales for the current year are projected to be E45 million–50 million, with growth of approximately 30% on 2018. “Polar-Automaatio has a long and reputable history in the sectors that Flowrox operates in. Polar-Automaatio has been particularly impressive as a turnkey supplier of modernisation projects for automated production lines. Such projects often offer the possibility to include Flowrox’s other equipment and components in the overall package, such as valves, pumps and filters,” said Flowrox CEO and president Jukka Koskela. “Flowrox has invested heavily in the development of IIoT-based smart automation systems in recent years. There are many older automation systems out there that require renewal in the near future. Experts such as Polar-Automaatio that are independent of system suppliers have a special status in such projects. This acquisition will enable Flowrox to provide their customers with more comprehensive solutions,” added Koskela. “The deal strengthens Polar-Automaatio’s role as a process and automation technology specialist, and enables growth in servicing operations as well as opening up opportunities to bring our expertise and heritage to international markets. Flowrox is the perfect partner for us on account of its focus on growth, existing global sales and service network, and advanced IIoT solutions. By combining our expertise, the two companies form a highly competitive global service provider,” said PolarAutomaatio CEO Markus Saloniemi. rundfos says that intelligent solutions along with concrete actions are key in its efforts to effectively impact the current global water and climate challenges. “The water and climate crisis is crucially important to solve. Our planet and future generations depend on it. As a company, which can have a real impact in handling this, we see it as our obligation to act,” said Mads Nipper, CEO of Grundfos. In the Grundfos Strategy 2025, the company introduces an ambition to become climate positive. Grundfos is working to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2025, compared to 2008 levels. The Danish company will also help its suppliers reduce their footprints. The Grundfos strategy also includes an ambition to cut its own water consumption by 50% by 2025 compared to 2008 levels. “And this is only focusing on our own part of the world. We are expanding our scope, and apart from acting sustainably in-house, we will also ramp up our efforts in our surrounding communities,” added Nipper. By 2030, Grundfos says it will help provide water for 300 million people, who today do not have access to it, and through intelligent water management save 50 billion m3 of fresh water. “All the while, we will continue pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency in pumps, making sure that every new pump installed will use less electricity than the one, it replaces. We will also develop and refine digital solutions, some of which, the world has never seen, that will enable us to reach our ambitions,” said Nipper. “We cannot do this alone. We must collaborate with suppliers, customers and partners to turn ambitions into reality. We will only achieve this together. And we must act now.” For further information, visit www.grundfos.com
