An extensive range of high quality anti-reflection coatings for use in the visible, uv and ir wavelength range are available from Balzers High Vacuum, specialists in thin film technology. Typical applications include general optical instrumentation; laser optics and related systems; night vision devices; thermal imaging and protective windows. Examples of the Balzers range for visible light include: multilayer coatings for specified wavelengths, antistatic multilayer coatings and broadband (450 nm to 880 nm) or extreme broadband coatings (450 nm to 1100 nm). The Duolin multilayer is of particular interest as it can be used for visible and laser wavelengths for example Nd = 1060 nm or GaAs = 900 nm. Unique to Balzers, the Infralin infrared anti-reflection coatings are radioactive free and available on a wide range of substrates for either 3 to 5/~m or 8 to 12/~m wavelengths. A multispectral infrared coating and a Hard Carbon anti-reflection coating for exterior applications are also available. Further information from:

Leading contract electronics manufacturer Avex Electronics has chosen nine of Rietschle's Vacboxes to supply all of the vacuum for the automatic testing equipment in its expanded manufacturing plant at East Kilbride, Scotland. The Vacbox is a sleek steel enclosure lined with 1¼" open-cell soundabsorbing foam, housing one of Rietschle's dry-running VFT vacuum pumps in six different capacities. Vacbox provides a quiet, oil-free

These range from basic vacuum components/instrumentation and ion sources to complete ion etch and deposition systems.
