WRITING FOR THE JOURNAL Members and readers are encouraged to submit their original works for publication in the Confederation of Australian Critical Care Nurses Journal. These works may take the form of papers on clinical or psychosocial aspects of nursing the critically ill, research reports, book reviews, reports on new equipment, quizzes, reports on innovative nursing management, case histories, letters to the Editor, or questions that readers need expert opinion on. The success of the Journal depends upon the quality and the quantity of contributions from the members and, to this end, the following guidelines for the preparation of the works are provided: • All works should be typewritten and double spaced on A4 paper. • Three copies of the works to be forwarded to the Editor. • The title page should include all author details (name, qualifications, details of present position and past positions where relevant).

• All papers must include an abstract of 100-150 words. • Diagrams, graphs and figures may be included if necessary and should be properly labelled and referenced. Copyright must be obtained from original diagram source. • Original photographs must be submitted to ensure good reproduction. • Articles should not be too lengthy. The Editor would prefer concise, well written works of up to 2,000 words in length. • All journals and books referred to in the work must be properly referenced within the text and in a list of references, or bibliography, at the end of the work. References within the text should take the form of a number in brackets (1) at
