The Evaluation, Dissemination and Assessment Center (California State University, Los Angeles, 515 1 State University Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90032) has published a selected list of resources on minority youth and the areas which affect how they learn. The publication titled, Factors That A,frect Learning Among Minority Youth: A Partial Bibliography, is authored by James A. Vasquez. William Gu&kunst (Department of Human Communication, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ 08903) joins the Department of Rhetoric and Communication, State University of New York at Albany, beginning in the Fall. 1982. The Institute qf International Education (809 United Nations Plaza, New York, NY 10017) is offering awards for overseas graduate study, research in academic fields, or professional training in the creative and performing arts. The grants are provided for the purpose of increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. The International Society for the Comparative Stud,, of Civilizations (Center for International Studies, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA 15260) met this year, May 27-30, at the University of Pittsburgh and discussed such topics as: Civilizations of Africa; Matriarchies; Structures of Consciousness; East and West, Religions: Liberal Religions of Iceland and Japan; Japan’s Encounter with the West; Typology of Cultures; Semiotic Approaches to Civilizations; Encounters: Europe and Latin America, and many more.
