MINUTES OF THE STATED MEETING, APRIL 18, 1962 The Stated Meeting of The Franklin Institute was held at 8:15 P.M. in the Lecture Hall, J. G. Richard Heckscher, Executive Vice President, presiding. Mr. Heckscher called the meeting to order with approximately 220 members and guests present. Mr. Heckscher stated that the minutes of the Stated Meeting of March 21, 1962 were published in the April issue of the JOURNAL. There being no corrections or additions, the minutes were approved as published. Mr. Heckscher announced this meeting marked the Fourth Charles S. Redding Lecture, established by the Leeds & Northrup Company in 1955 to honor Charles S. Redding, Chairman of their Board at the time of his death in 1959, and a former President of The Franklin Institute. Mr. Heckscher then introduced the speaker of the evening, Mr. Arthur F. Daniel, Director, Power Sources Division, U. S. Army Signal Research and Development Laboratory. Mr. Daniels' talk on "The Heartbeat of Space" vividly described the power required for satellites to perform their various functions in space, and was highlighted with many interesting demonstrations. Following the question period, the Executive Vice President thanked Mr. Daniels for his excellent talk and fascinating demonstrations, adjourning the meeting at 9:20 P.M.
