BPMA wins DTI award The British Pump Manufacturers' Association (BPMA), having successfully bid for a grant from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to support the development and implementation of marketing strategies for its members, has embarked on an ind e p t h report on the UK a n d world p u m p market. Whilst previous research has e x a m i n e d m a r k e t t r e n d s separately by both e n d user a n d p u m p type, it has the disadvantage of n o t allowing for m a r k e t t r e n d s by p u m p type w i t h i n e n d uses. The new a p p r o a c h involves breaking down the m a r k e t in each e n d u s e i n t o d i f f e r e n t a p p l i c a t i o n s which have been selected to reveal o p p o r t u n i t i e s for p u m p types a n d the characteristics needed. The first report, c o m p i l e d a f t e r 3 m o n t h s of i n t e n s i v e research by E u r o p e a n I n d u s t r i a l F o r e c a s t i n g Ltd, will s u p p o r t m e m b e r s ' sales efforts in the UK a n d the world market. A second report on the world m a r k e t will be available later in the year. BPMA m e m b e r s are already a n e t e x p o r t e r of over £ 1 3 5 m a n n u a l l y a n d it is expected t h a t these reports will help m e m b e r s improve on this in future years.
