Filtration Group to acquire Mahle’s Industrial Filtration business and Essentra’s Porous Technologies
F
iltration Group Corp has agreed to buy Mahle Group’s industrial filtration business and Essentra plc’s Porous Technologies operations. Mahle’s industrial filtration business segment employs about 900 people worldwide, with around 410 of these working in Öhringen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Industrial filtration products are outside Mahle’s core business which focuses primarily on the automotive industry. “In Filtration Group, we are pleased to have found a buyer that, thanks to its expertise and size, is in a position to give the industrial filtration business a boost,” said Wolf-Henning Scheider, chairman of the Mahle management board and CEO. “Mahle’s industrial filtration business will greatly expand Filtration Group’s product portfolio and customer base,” said Steve Felice, CEO of Filtration Group. “We are extremely pleased with the know-how and expertise of the workforce that has built a truly remarkable business.” The 370 employees at the Öhringen site who work for Mahle’s automotive Filtration and Engine Peripherals business unit, are unaffected by the sale. The transaction is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities. Essentra Porous Technologies develops and manufactures custom fluid handling components, engineered from a portfolio of technologies that includes bonded and non-woven fibre, polyurethane foam and porous plastics. For the year ended 31 December 2015, the Porous Technologies business generated external revenue of £91.6 million and operating profit of £19.0 million. “The addition of the Essentra Porous Technologies business increases our capabilities for our customers,” said Felice. “This
