GenRad software ISG Data Sales are now marketing a new range of software for use on the GenRad 2300 Series standalone microprocessor development systems. Software available now includes the CP/M operating system and compatible programs. The ISG version of CP/M has been implemented to make as much memory as possible available to the user. A total of 54 kbyte is unused, allowing very large programs to be run. ISG are expected to announce new CP/M-compatible software from time to time, concentrating on highlevel language interpreter/compilers needed for microprocessor development. They also offer users service or advice on the implementation of software to run under CP/M. (Tel: .

In-built PROMs control the LXI 200,a matrix printer from Brospa Data, a UK-based company. The PROMs hold the programs needed to generate complex character patterns and shape of text by a mix of lncremental print head movement, multipassing and individual needle firing. This capability allows the creation of drawings, logos, bar coding and text in various type styles. Standard firmware comes with the hardware
and enhancements to that firmware with additional features can be acquired - typically size, position, type and general structure, as well as centering; justifying, tabbing etc. can be accomplished at a speed of 180 character/s bidirectional operation. The printer comes with an RS232C interface to 9600 baud Xon Xoff, CTS protocols and an 8 kbyte buffer. Single purchase cost is £2000.

Mostek CPU card MDX-CPU2 is an STD bus-compatible CPU card from Mostek. It features six 24-pin memory sockets for expansion with any combination of ROM, RAM and EPROM. Flexible address decoding allows the user to configure each memory device with any 1 k boundary of the 64k memory map. A PROM decoder allows the user to choose from one of four preselected memory configurations - the CPU memory may also be accessed by external DMA. The CPU2 has a 4-channel counter/ timer circuit (MK3882) for softwarecontrolled counting and time functions. It is based on the l80, is available in both 2.5 and 4 MHz versions and is compatible with the standard Mostek software through the use of a strapping option. It has automatic
transparent dynamic memory refresh and jumper-selectable wait state generator. (Mostek (UK) Ltd, Masons

Faster Net/One systems Thame Systems have announced that the 10 Mbit/s Net/One system will be available in July 1981. The generalpurpose local area network, from Ungermann-Bass, is fully Ethernetcompatible, according to specifications published by Xerox, DEC and Intel. A 4 Mbit/s Net/One system is already available (Microprocessors & Microsystems April 1981). Net/One is a distributed microprocessor-based communication system which allows interconnection and communication between a wide variety of data and text processing equipment. Existing Net/One installations (Ungermann-Bass have been delivering systems since July 1980) can be converted to be Ethernet-compatible or a gateway can be used to communicate between the two systems.
