Work starts on Wilo’s new facility in Dubai
W
ilo has laid the foundation stone for its new facility in Jafza (Jebel Ali Free Zone), Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The German pump company says that by investing in the Dubai economic hub, it is acknowledging the region’s growing prominence and responding to the requirements of the market. The 8000 sq m Wilo complex will have its own assembly line as well as office space, showrooms, a logistics centre and dedicated Wilo-Academy training rooms. “The role of the city as a platform and logistic hub for trade in the Middle East, Dubai’s efficient infrastructure by land, sea and air and the long-term economic stability offered by this country were the crucial factors tipping the balance in favour of investing here. The construction is scheduled for completion in early 2018,” said Carsten Krumm, chief operating officer of Wilo SE. For further information, visit www.wilo.com and www.wilo.ae

from Moret Industries (see Pump Industry Analyst, November 2016). The business will now be fully integrated into Sulzer’s Pumps Equipment division. Sulzer says that the acquisition allows it to close specific product gaps in its general industry pumps portfolio, such as axial flow pumps and slurry pumps. Ensival Moret offers a wide range of industrial pumps with strong positions in industrial applications such as fertilizers, sugar, mining and chemicals. Ensival Moret’s main manufacturing facilities are based in Saint Quentin, France, and Thimister, Belgium. The pump business also operates facilities in Brazil and China, as well as multiple service centres worldwide. César Montenegro, president of Sulzer’s Pumps Equipment division, said: “We warmly welcome EM’s employees to the Sulzer family and are looking forward to growing together in our general industry business by serving our customers’ process needs.” For further information, visit www.sulzer.com and www.ensival-moret.com
Grundfos opens first CRN pump assembly line in the Middle East
G
rundfos has launched its first assembly line for CRN pumps in the Middle East based at the company’s facilities in Jebel Ali in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Following a feasibility study that examined a number of product types, a decision was taken last year to assemble CRN pumps in Grundfos facilities in the UAE rather than keeping finished stock units. The first 14 pumps were ready by end of 2016. “We can say now that we’re all set to start selling, 2017 started off with the first official GGD-assembled CRN order for one of our OEM customers,” said Stewart Procter, Grundfos senior director Operations & Customer Service, Middle East. “The study we undertook concluded that we can increase sales of our CRN1-45 by 350 units in the first year alone. In case we applied further improvements and adhered to the set plans, this number could remarkably rise to an extra 2600 units by the fifth year.”
