EDITORIAL The Al Steyermark Scholarship Awards For many years now, the American Microchemical Society has been giving student awards in the amount of $500 per student in order to aid undergraduate students seeking to go on to graduate studies in chemistry. These awards are normally given at the May meetings of the American Microchemical Society. In 1982, in order to recognize Dr. Al Steyermark’s service to the Society as Editor of the Microchemical Journal, these awards were identified as “Al Steyermark Scholarship Awards.” The 1988Al Steyermark Scholarship Awards were recently presented at the May 1988 meeting of the Society and the six recipients were certainly most deserving of the awards. The six undergraduate students (as of May 1988)are Ms. Hannah T. Betensky, Barnard College; Mr. Timothy E. Glass, Franklin I%Marshall College; Ms. Pasi Antero Janne, Vassar College; Ms. Drdla Katja, Princeton University; Mr. Robert F. Paretti, Rutgers University; and Ms. Donna Zylinski, College of St. Elizabeth. I congratulate all six of these recipients and wish them well in their future studies in chemistry.
