George ·Ii. Schneller, director pharmacy research and development at Wyeth. Laboratories, has been elected president-elect of the Academy of Pharmaceutical . Sciences for 1972-1973 . Other officers elected by mail ballot were Vice President JohnE. Christian, professor and head, bionucleonics department, school of pharmacy and pharmacal sciences, and director, Institute for Environmental Health, Purdue University;, and executiye committee Member~at­ Large (1972-1975) Arnold D. Marcus, associate director, re~earch and developinent, Bristol-Myers Laboratories. President-elect Schneller's research ~ nd publications (with patents) are related ·to chemotherapy and pharmaceutical dosage form design, evaluation and processing. In addition to chairing many important committees related to his field 6f interest, Dr. Schneller was chairman of the Academy Committee on Hazards of Smoking, (designed and produced the APhA slide-talk on "Smoke and Science") , (19651966); member of the Academy Executive Committee (1965-1966 and 1968-1970); chairman, Academy Public Information Committe~; chairman of the committee that produced the Academy Statement ,on Orug Product Quality ( 1969), and is currently ,c hairman of the tJSP Advisory Panei on Containers and Packaging. Christian's research interests include the areas of bioanalytical, radioisotope applications, radiological physics and environmental health. He has three patents and 257 publications. Christian served on the executive committee during the early days of the Academy. M arcus' research interests include applications of kinetics to , physical and biological processes, the correlation of in vitro with in vivo testing, and general application of fundaIi1ent ~tls to product development. More than 35 publications and patents bear his name. Dr. Marcus is chairman of the inctus1trial pharmaceutical technology section of the Academy and has been active in arranging regional meetings of this section. He has served on several committees of the Academy. In addition to the current officers-elect, the balloted officers of the Academy and its sections will be inducted into office at the APhA annual meeting in Houston, Texas , April 22-28 , 1972.
