His studies were published in a paper entitled "Vapor Pressure of Nitroglycei'in in Sublingual Molded Tablets: Implications for Stability," which appeared in the September 1976 issue of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The award consists of an inscribed medal and certificate. Receiving Honorable Mention Certificates were Dr. Pikal's co-workers, Anita L. Lukes and Dr. lee Floyd Ellis. Joint Symposia
"The Use of Raw Materials of Natural Origin" was the title of a symposium held Monday morning, May 16, co-sponsored by "the Industrial Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmacognosy and Natural Products Sections. The use of such materials-mostly as excipients-was considered by discussing those factors which have an effect on the natural products themselves and hence on the properties of the finished formulation. Use of natural products in solid, semisolid and liquid forms was explicitly considered, and overall quality control matters were not overlooked. "The Environment for Pharmaceutical
